Waves in a
stationary system

Waves in a
rotating system

period of rotation: 5 sec.

In an anti-clockwise rotating system, with the wall to the right,
Kelvin waves moving along the wall do occur,
but Kelvin waves going the opposite way don't occur.

Experimental conditions

Thickness of the water layer: 7.5cm
Thickness of the limonene layer: 7.5cm
Density gap: 0.05 g/cm3
Wave period: 2.1 seconds

Photographic conditions

f=50mm, F3.5, AUTO-1/3, ASA100, Y2 + FL-W filters used.
