3. In this study... We perform a numerical simulation of the thermal convection. The spatial resolution is sufficiently high so that the thermal convection can be represented explicitly. A radiative transfer process and a grand surface thermal process are implemented so that the characteristics of radiatively driven thermal convection can be simulated. The daytime Martian lower atmosphere is strongly heated by the thermal radiation from the surface (Haberle et al., 1993). Two cases of simulations are performed. The dust-free case We examine the circulation characteristics of thermal convection, the magunitudes of convective wind velocity and surface stress. The dusty case Assuming that the convective wind injects dust into the atmosphere. We examine a feature of dust mixing by thermal convection and effects of dust on the circulation pattern of thermal convection.
